Newberry Star Park Storage Building
Home to club star parties and a primary location for school outreach for City of Newberry. Located at the Easton Newberry Sports Complex about 20-minutes west of Gainesville on a site with moderately dark skies. Includes A 12-ft x 28-ft storage building, eight observing pads and room for additional telescopes. Safe solar viewing equipment available. A prime area for model rocket launches, scouting events and other science-related activities. Restroom facilities are nearby including the main building of the Newberry Sports Complex.
The NSP can also be used for special event meetings and other activities. The NSP was built in 2010 with its grand opening scheduled for January 2011.
Location: From W. Newberry Rd. (SR 26) in Newberry, Florida, 1.6 miles north on US 27/41 • Lat. 29°40.15' N • Long. 82°36.05' W • Elev. 83 ft (25 m)
Parking: For events in the Main Building of the Sports complex, park near the Main Building. Do not go to the Newberry Star Park located about 400 ft behind (east) of the Main Building. See Google Earth Map (Closeup) below.
